Welcome to Cransley

Headteacher Richard Pollock

Welcome to Cransley School.

It is a pleasure and a privilege to work at Cransley - alongside such fabulous pupils, colleagues and families.

That sense of pride remains undiminished over the last eight years of headship, and my love for this school, and all that it has become, grows with every working day.

The school has grown rapidly but effectively in that time, from 120 pupils to our current roll of 260, and the estate facilities and classrooms have flourished with this development to become a truly idyllic and enabling environment for learning.

We take great delight in occupying a place in the educational sector that is distinct from the large selective independent setting or the huge local high schools and academies.

A school where each individual is known and nurtured.

A school designed to enable each pupil to flourish and grow in small class sizes, through excellent relationships with families, and through the care of exceptional, experienced teaching practitioners, with a passion for their subject and the wellbeing of pupils.

To have our inspectorate, ISI, acknowledge our significant strengths and the benefits that other small independent schools bring to our young people, is incredibly satisfying, and I encourage you to read this inspection report alongside those of other schools.

More than anything else, I encourage you to come and visit me, meet my wonderful pupils, and see what learning should be like, all in a beautiful, engaging and nurturing school environment.

Mr Richard Pollock, Headteacher

Richard was educated at King Edward VI School in Aston, Birmingham and graduated from Cardiff Law School, before studying at the University of Manchester.  He began his teaching career in 2001, developing quickly into a leading classroom practitioner, and adopting numerous managerial roles in the state-maintained education sector, with brief and indulgent period of study in Opera and Vocal Studies at the Royal Northern College of Music in 2006.

Richard became the Deputy Headteacher and Head of the Junior School at Cransley in 2014, and the Headteacher two years later, when the School roll was just 114. He has three children across the school, his youngest being born on his first day at Cransley.

There is a notable sense of everyone working together, which enables pupils to both develop confidence and learn effectively.

Leaders are highly successful in their roles and responsibilities. They work as a team, supporting and challenging one another.
